Services and Pricing
Choose between 2 packages and/or 2 special services:
Individual Research Package
If you’re looking for family history research about one individual ancestor, this is the best option. This package includes a free consultation, basic family tree (if applicable), and analysis report about the research findings and what they mean to your ancestor’s story.
Initial Fee
The initial fee to begin your research project is $150.00 CDN. This is a flat fee for 5 hours of research time for compiling the information given to me by the client, to conduct the preliminary research to support the information given to me by the client, and to proceed to work towards the research objective(s) requested by the client. Payment of the initial fee of $150.00 is required before work commences on a project. Once the first 5 hours of research have been completed, I will let the client know what I’ve accomplished with the first 5 hours of research and discuss if the client would like to proceed with more research.
Hourly Rate
Once the first 5 hours of research of been completed, the subsequent rate is $30.00 per hour if the client wishes to proceed with more research (plus any expenses such as copies of records, facility fees, parking, etc..). During further research, I will reach out every time 5 hours of work is completed with a check-in to update the client on the project status regarding hours and dollars, and confirm if the client would like to continue the research, pause or complete the project.
Family Tree Research Package
If you’re looking for a branch, two branches, or your entire family tree, this is the best option. This package includes a free consultation, basic family tree, and research report detailing as much about the life of each ancestor as can be found.
Initial Fee
The initial fee to begin your research project is $150.00 CDN. Special Service: Narrative Keepsake
The narrative keepsake is your family history presented in a story format and makes a wonderful gift. This special service is a great add-on to both Individual and Family Tree research packages. Or, if you already have research completed (i.e. an ancestor’s military history) but would like it in a story format, this is a great option.
Initial Fee
The initial fee for this service is $90.00 CDN. This is a flat fee for 3 hours to organize information collected from the client.
Hourly Rate
Once the first 3 hours of work has been completed, the subsequent rate is $30.00 per hour to write the narrative requested by the client.
Special Service: DNA Match Organization
Applicable to Ancestry DNA kit results only. Did you take an Ancestry genealogical DNA test but don’t know what to do with thousands of DNA matches? This is a great way to organize your matches by all four grandparents’ lines. DNA is measured in centimorgans (cM), the higher the cM, the closer your relation is. If you share 20cM or less, the relation is so distant it won’t impact your family tree. Important note: This service requires that you permit me to manage your full Ancestry DNA results. This permission does not allow me access to any other element of your Ancestry account. Once the special service is complete, I simply delete my access to your DNA results and can no longer view it.
Initial Fee
The initial fee for this service is $90.00 CDN. This is a flat fee for 3 hours to access DNA results and gather information from the client to begin sorting their DNA matches.
Hourly Rate
Once the first 3 hours of work has been completed, the subsequent rate is $30.00 per hour to finish sorting DNA matches down to 20cM (as explained above).
